Bedford Correctional Facility

Once a month, Vicar Debra Slade and one or two prison volunteers offer a Holy Communion Service in the hospital of the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in Bedford Hills, N.Y. Bedford Hills Is the only maximum security prison for women in New York state, and many of the women coming to the service have long or life sentences for serious offenses. This signature service of St. Francis takes place on the third Sunday of each month at 4:00 PM in the Church (2810 Long Ridge Road).  The service is a pared down communion liturgy where pets get a blessing and those who would like to can receive communion.  The service is very casual and lasts less than 30 minutes.
