THE MUSTARD SEED

Once there was someone who said such amazing things, and did such wonderful things, that people began to follow him. As they followed, he told them about a kingdom: the Kingdom of Heaven. But they did not understand. They had never been to such a place. And they didn’t know anyone who had. They didn’t even know where it was. So one day they simply had to ask him, “What is the Kingdom of Heaven like?”

And he said, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed… which a person took and sowed in a field.

It was the smallest of seeds, and it grew, and it grew, and it grew.

When it has grown, the mustard is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make their nests there in its branches.

I wonder how the birds feel about this tree?

I wonder what this tree might really be?

The Lord be with you!

This Sunday is the last Sunday of Epiphany, and the color is green. Next Sunday will begin the Season of Lent, the time that we get ready to celebrate the Mystery of Easter.

This week, we have a story about Jesus beginning to do the work God had given him to do. Jesus did wonderful things, he healed people, he helped people, he loved people. And Jesus said amazing things: he talked about the Kingdom of Heaven. People didn’t know about or didn’t understand the Kingdom of Heaven. So Jesus told them stories or parables about this new Kingdom.

This week, we have a parable about the Kingdom of Heaven. We know that parables are very precious like gold. They are like presents that have already been given to us. And they are old; Jesus told us these stories a long time ago.

Have a good week. Be safe.

I miss you!
